Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) was a German musician and composer, who personifies the idea of the creative genius. He is recognized as one of the greatest, and almost certainly the most influential, composers of the Western classical music tradition. He represents the bridge between the classical music era and the subsequent romantic style, something he himself created and initially represented.
His music largely deviated from the norm of his time, not only in form and richness, but in the incorporated dramatic emotions. For him, music was a way to express himself and for this, if necessary, he broke the existing rules of musical norms and structures.
Beethoven probably is famous for his extraordinary symphonies and piano sonatas, but his extensive body of work includes many other genres, like concertos, overtures and occasional music, piano trios and quartets, string trios and quartets, chamber music, violin sonatas, cello sonatas, variations, bagatelles, songs, choral music, wing music and one opera.
What kind of music is Beethoven? Above we answered the question from historical perspective, in somewhat a dry way. Although those are facts, the question is better if answered from the emotional side. Listening to Beethoven is a fantastic experience, not only is his music excellent, it can have unparalleled impact on your emotions, elevating music (and listening to music) to transcendental level.
